Seeing domains

Domain is the most intuitive of all concepts and the most difficult to formalise and understand completely. To formalise the idea of the domain, we must realise sociology's frames theory and how we classify and recognise situations. That will help us understand how we distinguish between outsiders and insiders and how an analyst can change his perspective, look at the business from a fresh perspective, and see the activities cycle, which is only sometimes very obvious. Once we see how we frame situations, we can proceed with domain boundary, causality ladder models, and taxonomies. We conclude this long chapter by defining the distinction between system operation, system service, and system maintenance, which helps us to focus our further efforts on the purposes for which we develop a project ontology.
