Business analysis

  • Once we identify the domain and its objects, we can list and analyse the actions we perform with those objects. We can describe inputs to processes, activities within processes, and their outputs. We can identify and analyse objects' states and their life cycles. Combined, such analyses will lead us to the system modes of operation and failure modes, resulting in the system life cycle model we developed from the bottom up.
  • Organisations perform processes, or, formally speaking, they are assigned to processes. We build a business from processes and organise it by assigning responsible organisations. Another situation is also possible—if something needs to be done, we must find an organisation unit responsible for it.
  • Organisations coordinate and collaborate through organisational interfaces. The interface is a fascinating concept because processes don't have interfaces alone; you should implement specific interfaces for specific purposes each time. Two of the most typical organisational interfaces are contracts and projects. Let's consider both.
